The Cayman Government has approved an exemption from tourist accommodation tax for the period April 1, 2020, to September 30, 2020.

The Government further announcement that surcharges for late payment of tourism taxes for the months of February and March 2020 will also be waived.

“This temporary relief measure for the tourism accommodation sector will assist many properties that are currently closed and struggling to meet their financial obligations during this COVID-19 pandemic crisis lockdown,” the Government said.

The Government has said that tourist accommodation tax return forms will not need to be submitted until September 1, 2020, for all accommodation providers.

Timeshare Tax is not included in the waiver and the usual submission requirements apply, the Government said.
